Research and Development

Our research and development endeavors are carried on by a team of engineers who have displayed innovation & new ideas over the years. The unit is replete with developing new sections according to customer's requirements & drawings.

What is Bright Steel Bars or Bright Bars?

In “PRATAP” Cold Drawn Bright Bar are manufactured from Hot Rolled Bars made in supervision of qualified engineers in house & are pickled and drawn through a Tungsten Carbide Die as Cold Rolled, no heating is required, that is why it is called a Cold Drawn Bright Bar.

Secondly in Peeled / Turned Bright Bar the Hot Rolled Bar is fed into a Turning machine and the surface is turned / removed to the required size of the Dia. This is also a Cold process, no heating is required. Bright Bars can be further Ground Finished for special applications.

Bright Bars have a smooth and a Bright surface with Accurate Tolerance on the Dia. Accurate Tolerance means the tolerance of the Dia is very restricted i.e 0.10 mm approximately depending on the size of the Dia and as per the customer’s specific requirement. These are the reasons why a Bright Bar enjoys advantages over a Hot Rolled Bar. Bright Bars can be used in automatic Machines for making Steel components whereas a Hot Rolled Bar cannot be used.

 

Production Facilities

Pratap is Indias one of the leading manufacturer of iron & steel products. It offers a wide range steel products comprising of Equal Angles (40mm to 150mm), Flat bars (25mm to 250mm width), Square Steel bars (10mm to 80mm) and Steel Round bars (12mm to100 mm) conforming to various international standards and required for use in various industry & projects. As a manufacturer of high-quality & customized steel sections, Pratap serves a range of large industrial fabricators covering pre-engineered building fabricators, automobile industry, engineering projects & industry, material handling equipments manufacturing company, power transmission and telecommunication tower fabricators, irrigation equipment manufacturers, scaffolding, cold drawing and fastener industries.

The Production Facility constitutes of:

  • Reheating Furnace: Being an environmental concern industry we have started oil & coal fired reheating furnace, 80 feet long & 7.5 feet width reheating furnace which can take from 65mm upto 160 mm billets upto 7 feet length and maximum furnace temperature is 1500 degree c.
  • Rolling Mill: 7 stand parallelly placed steel rolling mill which comprises of 1 roughing stands, 1 crop/cobble shear, 4 intermediate stands, 1 crop cobble shear, 2 finishing stands. The Mill rolls billets which are fed at a temperature of 900 - 1500 degree c. Mill stand rolls are of various types such as vertical, horizontal, convertible V/H and universal to meet specific requirements of rolling sections.
  • Cooling Bed and Finishing Equipment: The cooling bed comprises of 30 meters long x 10 meters wide. A multi strand straightening machine is provided with 4 lower driven roll and 5 upper idle rolls. Finished equipment comprises of two heavy duty shering machine / hex saw cutting machine
  • Mill Automation System: The mill is designed with table top conveyers & turn tables automation to improve mill productivity, reduce labour costs with minimal manpower and improve quality & safety
  • Measuring Equipment to Improve Product Quality: On sight dedicated person is appointed with measuring gauges to measure the dimensions of the sections emerging out of the finishing mill stand.
  • Laboratory: Critical test equipment comprises of universal testing machine, brinell hardness tester, rockwell hardness tester, spectrometer, metallurgical microscope, stereo microscope, ultrasonic hardness tester, & others.
  • Roll Shop: With 3 nos. Highly designed lathe machines, 2 milling machine and two hex-saw cutting machine
  • Auxiliary Facilities: Constitute of water treatment plant & cooling towers, 34.5 KV switchgear, gas metering station, diesel generator room cum workshop, 2 nos. OHT cranes in billet storage and 1 mobile crane dedicated for finished goods area for loading & unloading.

Our Infrastructure

We have developed a highly advanced and well designed infrastructure at our premise, it is laced with all the modern machines and tools required for the fabrication of the offered products. We have divided our infrastructure into various functional departments for hassle free and highly productive working environment. To make our offering as per the ongoing market developments and trends we upgrade our facility on regular period of time. Owing to our infrastructure facility, we have been able to deliver the bulk demand of the offered products within the assured period of time.

Our Warehouse

Steel Rolling Mill in India - Division

Unit No. 1 :

  • 14 Inch Centre, 3-High, 6 Stands Steel Rolling Mill Furnace Unit Coal and Oil fired having capacity of 6 MT per hour. Raw materials capacity 25600 Sq.mm (Maximum 160 X160mm).

Unit No. 2 :

  • 10 Inch Centre, 3-High, 6 Stands Rolling Mill. Furnace Unit Coal and Oil fired having capacity of 5 MT per hour. Raw materials capacity 10000 Sq.mm (Maximum 100 X 100mm).

Steel Bright Bar - Division

Unit No. 1 :

  • Draw Benches-3, Straightening Machine-3, Polishing Machine-2, Hammer-1, Pointing-3, End Cutting Machine-3. Production Capacity 3 MT per hour.
